Job Purpose: Sheridan College is seeking a prominent and successful leader in entrepreneurship to fill this full-time, 12 month position. The successful candidate will be expected to play a major role in developing, shaping and guiding a community/college partnership focusing on entrepreneurship education and the origination and expansion of other campus/community entrepreneurial collaboratons.

This new position reflects Sheridan’s strong commitment to promoting entrepreneurship in all of its forms in the community, college activities, and across the curriculum. The candidate is expected to pursue the development of external support via donations, grants, contractual training and other fundraising efforts.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities Essential Functions: Become familiar with existing resources, faculty, and curriculum related to entrepreneurship
Investigate community interest in entrepreneurship
Assess community needs in entrepreneurship and small business growth
Foster communication and coordination between the community, existing organizations, and key staff and faculty at the college.
Assist faculty in developing new entrepreneurship curriculum
Foster and advocate incorporation of entrepreneurship into existing curriculum
Advocate entrepreneurship in the local schools and coordinate between the school and college entrepreneurship programs
Recruit students interested in entrepreneurship and work with local schools to introduce and promote entrepreneurship
Explore and advocate instruction utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques and delivery methods
Provide support in the exploration, planning and development of campus/community entrepreneurial initiatives
Support the development of external funding initiatives for entrepreneurship education and programs by working closely with the Grants and Foundation Office
Conduct in-class presentations at area K-12 schools, as well as across campus as requested
Support the activities of Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) through various workshops, seminars and coordination activities

Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Skills and Abilities: The candidate is expected to have a commitment to academic excellence, a commensurate teaching record, and real-world entrepreneurial experience. It would be desirable for the candidate to have substantial practitioner experience in one or more new business start-ups.

Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence and be willing and able to teach in an integrated, cross disciplinary environment (as necessary)
Computer and technological competence required
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects with frequent deadlines
Knowledge: Knowledge and experience in technology-enhanced instruction
Practical knowledge and experience in addressing major issues of concern of new business start-ups, as well as on-going business enterprises

Experience: Minimum two years college teaching experience and/or corporate training experience
Relevant business experience highly desirable
